Care Instructions

We hope you love your new Winter planter. In the Winter, we recommend checking the soil once a week and watering only when it is dry.

Use the tips below to help with Winter care.

  • Watering needs vary based on the Sun conditions, size of container and type of plants used. The best way to tell if a plant needs water is to check by inserting your finger 1.5 -2” into the pot and feel the soil. If the soil feels wet or sticks to your finger, the plant does not need watering. If the soil feels dry water it thoroughly until it runs out the bottom of the container. Let the container dry out before you water it again.

A few tips: Smaller containers typically dry out more often than larger containers and containers in full Sun dry out more quickly than those in the shade.

    Recommended watering frequency by season:

    • In the Fall, we recommend checking containers 2x a week and only watering when they are dry. If they are dry each time you check, increase the frequency to 3x per week.

    • In the Winter, most plants are dormant and since it is colder they will not require as much water as other seasons. We recommend checking the soil weekly and watering accordingly.

  • We recommending watering at the dirt level or at the base of the plant with a watering can, shower nozzle or slow flowing hose. Try to avoid watering from the top of the plant.

Water until water can be seen draining from the pot at the bottom.

  • We add a slow release fertilizer to our arrangements prior to delivery. Additional all-purpose plant food or fertilizer (e.g. Jack’s or Miracle Grow) should be applied no more frequently than weekly throughout the Season.

  • Most blooming plants respond well to deadheading. Deadheading is simply the removal of “spent blooms”. This can be done manually by snapping them off with your fingers or using clippers.

If you have a plant in your container that has any specific maintenance needs, we will let you know when its delivered and provide maintenance reminders throughout the season.

  • Send us a picture so we can see what is going on. We want you to be happy and we know that caring for plants can be tricky at times. We’ll do our best to figure out what’s going on and get your planters back looking their best.
